The arid open space and almost constant wind here in the high desert does clear away, and forces you to look at roots and essences. Like the hardy, indifferent plant inhabitants whose roots run deep in search of water - the vital life energy; no root is unnecessary. If it doesn't serve life, it dies.
I dyed some white thread with rust ink I made from rusty objects gathered on walks. The loom was made for a much smaller person and WOW my body! I decided it would also be a poncho 30"in. I chose some thicker wool threads that recall the colors in this enveloping/expansive landscape.
warm thanks to the weaving studio at A-Z West for the instruction, the loom, and the yarn.
